This will be the first Valentine's Day that we celebrate since the pandemic began in our country. The truth is that relationships, both friendship, family, and love, have evolved during this last year, due to COVID-19. For this reason, it is worth asking how this new normal that we are experiencing will affect two of the festivities that are marked by relationships : Valentine's Day (February 14) and Singles' Day (February 13). The Insights, Analytics & Strategy department of IPG Mediabrands has carried out a study to analyze the main insights that will mark the keys to how Spaniards will experience this holiday. These are their conclusions: Closer relationships and stronger connections For 93% of the population, friends, family and partners are more important this year than ever and 65% take advantage of any moment to see their friends. In fact, 75% declare that their relationships have strengthened during 2020 , and 87% declare that they now need to be with their loved ones much more than before. And the year 2020 has served many to regain contact and to get closer to our loved ones (although not physically). Among the key aspects for strengthening these bonds of love, family and friendship is the fact of sharing values, which is fundamental for 73% of people. This search for stronger connections is common in both couples and singles . In fact, during the pandemic months, dating apps have experienced a boom in activity , although with some changes in their usage patterns.
This is the case of Tinder, possibly the most famous dating application, where the exchange of messages increased by 76% and where conversations became 26% longer, according to the application's internal data.
